Anxiety Therapy
When Worry Becomes a Way of Life
- Do you feel like your brain never turns off—even when you’re trying to relax?
- Are you constantly scanning for what might go wrong, even when things seem okay?
- Maybe your body carries the weight: clenched jaw, racing heart, or tension that never fully releases.
Anxiety doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it whispers through sleepless nights, overthinking, or a constant hum of dread you can’t explain. You might look put-together on the outside while feeling like you’re unraveling on the inside. Anxiety Therapy can help.
At Rocky Mountain Relational Therapy, we help you understand the why behind your anxiety—not just how to “manage” it, but how to heal what’s underneath.
With the right support, you can stop white-knuckling your way through life and start feeling safe inside your own mind and body.
Our Arvada-based anxiety therapists specialize in anxiety treatment and are here to help you regain control. If anxiety is driving your decisions and preventing you from living fully, reach out today for a FREE consultation at (720)-580-3866.
Anxiety Doesn’t Always Look the Way You Think It Should
Anxiety is incredibly common—impacting over 40 million adults in the U.S. every year. However, anxiety often goes unrecognized, especially when it’s masked as busyness, people-pleasing, or perfectionism1.
Many of our clients didn’t even know they were struggling with anxiety. They just thought they were “bad at relaxing,” overly sensitive, or couldn’t seem to get their thoughts to slow down.
Sometimes anxiety has clear roots in trauma, grief, or stress. Other times, it builds silently over years, shaped by childhood environments, cultural pressures, or nervous system sensitivity. It’s not always panic attacks. Anxiety can show up through digestive issues, irritability, chronic tension, or emotional numbness.
You may have been told to “just breathe” or “think positive,” but that oversimplifies something much deeper. Anxiety is not a flaw, it’s a survival strategy your system developed to stay safe. Therapy can help you understand what your anxiety is trying to protect, and how to relate to it differently.

Anxiety Therapy Can Help You Feel Like Yourself Again
At Rocky Mountain Relational Therapy, we take a trauma-informed, relational approach to anxiety treatment. That means we won’t just give you coping skills—we’ll get curious about what your anxiety is trying to do for you and why it’s showing up the way it is.
Therapy for anxiety is tailored to your individual history, symptoms, and goals. Depending on your needs, we may integrate modalities like:

- Trauma Therapy – to explore and heal past experiences fueling anxious patterns
- Parts Work Therapy – to understand inner conflicts and protective strategies
- Narrative Therapy – to examine and rewrite internalized anxiety-driven beliefs
- Art Therapy – to express emotions that words can’t fully reach
- Nervous System Regulation – to calm physical symptoms and restore inner balance
In our sessions, we’ll slow down together. You’ll learn to recognize your anxiety cues and understand what your nervous system needs in moments of overwhelm. We’ll also introduce tools like grounding techniques, breathwork, boundary setting, and emotional regulation strategies that you can take into everyday life.
Over time, many of our clients report not only reduced anxiety symptoms, but also a renewed sense of self-trust, steadier relationships, and a more compassionate relationship with their inner world.
What to Expect During Anxiety Therapy
At Rocky Mountain Relational Therapy, we make the therapy process as comfortable as possible. Your first full session will be a 50-minute intake where we’ll get to know you and your anxiety history. Together, we’ll create a plan tailored to your goals and needs. Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes, where we’ll continue to explore the root causes of your anxiety and teach you practical tools for managing it.
Our Arvada anxiety therapists are compassionate, experienced, and here to help you every step of the way. We know that reaching out for help can be anxiety-inducing itself, but we’re here to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible.
Common Concerns About Anxiety Therapy
How long will it take to feel better?
That depends on your unique history and what you want from therapy. Some clients notice shifts within a few weeks, especially with body-based interventions. Others choose to work long-term to unpack deeper roots. We’ll move at your pace.
What if therapy makes me more anxious at first?
That’s a valid fear. Starting therapy—or finally looking at what’s been buried—can stir things up. But you won’t be doing it alone. We’ll go slowly, honor your boundaries, and build emotional safety step by step.
What if I don’t even know what’s causing my anxiety?
That’s more common than you’d think. You don’t need to have the “why” figured out before starting. We’ll work together to gently explore patterns and build language for what your system is holding onto.
I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help. How will this be different?
Many of our clients come to us after unhelpful experiences elsewhere. At RMRT, we center the therapeutic relationship and tailor each session to your real life, not a generic script. Our trauma-informed, integrative approach means we listen to your mind, body, and story, not just your symptoms.
